What sparked the idea
The idea came from someone close to me who avoids public restrooms because of a fear of germs.
It made me think about how uncomfortable and unhygienic shared bathrooms still are, even though we know better today.
I found it so interesting that nothing has changed design wise to make our day to day better. Bathrooms really does not makes sense. The one at home looks exactly the same as the one that is shared by countless of others. so I got irritated that we still use our hands to open and close the toilet lid.
That’s when I decided to do something about it. Lets just make everyones day better.
Vision
Public restrooms are some of the most used spaces in our daily lives, but also some of the least thought through.
That needs to change.
Footup is just the beginning.
The goal is to rethink how shared spaces are built, cleaned, and experienced. To make the visit as good as it can get.
When something as basic as a toilet lid can be improved, imagine what else can be.
How
Footup is a Swedish company focused on simple, practical innovation.
We design and manufacture everything locally in stainless steel. Built for hygiene, durability, and easy maintenance.
Our products are made to fit into existing restrooms without renovation, making installation quick and cost-effective.
By reducing unnecessary touchpoints, we help create cleaner spaces while cutting down on waste like paper used to avoid contact.
It’s about finding smarter ways to make restrooms work better, for the people who use them and for the ones who keep them clean.
The mission
The mission is simple: to make restroom visits smoother, cleaner, and more sustainable.
To invent products that just make sense — easy to install, easy to use, and easy to keep clean.
Footup is built to last, but even more importantly, it’s built to be maintained.
A product should never make life harder for the people who clean or take care of a space, it should make it easier.
Because in the end, good design isn’t just about how it looks. It’s about how it works for everyone.
